These alternative belief systems aren't clinically proven, but are presumed to be helpful in balancing energies impacting one's life and help in healing. Reiki is a form of alternative medicine developed by a Japanese Buddhist, is based on qi ("chi"), which practitioners say is a universal life force. Reiki's teachings and adherents claim that qi is physiological and can be manipulated to treat a disease or condition.
