As one of the Chiranjivi, he is also mentioned in several other texts, such as the Mahabharata and the various Puranas. Here he is singing praises or keertan/ bhajan of his Lord Rama playing Indian musical instruments called kartels. He is kneeling with his large club or gada beneath his right knee with his long tail encircling the halo behind his head.
